An Invitation to Learn

Lucy Lee's teaching practice is rooted in her belief that creativity begins with curiosity and grows through the act of doing.  From 2026, the Coach House Studio in Staffordshire will open its doors as a place for learning, experimentation, and connection, where design meets craft and the pace slows enough to notice what the hands can teach.

Lucy's workshops and one-to-one sessions are designed for those who wish to explore ceramics as both a craft and a mindful practice. Whether you're a beginner drawn to the material, a designer seeking fresh perspectives, or a maker developing your voice, each session is shaped to honour the individual journey.

Learning Philosophy

Lucy's approach to teaching mirrors her own creative process: intentional, reflective, and generous.

She believes that clay offers lessons beyond technique;  it teaches patience, awareness, and presence. Her classes focus on process rather than perfection, encouraging participants to discover the meditative rhythm of making.

Each session is small and hands-on, guided by thoughtful conversation. Students learn to build, throw, and glaze with confidence, but also to appreciate the value of imperfection, the marks and variations that make a piece uniquely theirs. Lucy brings a designer's sensibility to her teaching. She helps students explore how form, proportion, and surface connect to wider principles of space and material. Through discussions on texture, tone, and the relationship between object and environment, participants learn to see ceramics not as isolated pieces but as part of a living, inhabited world.

This blend of design thinking and ceramic practice makes her sessions particularly valuable for architects, stylists, interior designers, and creative professionals seeking to reconnect with the physical act of making.
